2016 Subaru WRX Impreza Review

2016 Subaru WRX is the fourth generation of the famous racing
car from the World Rally Championship, on the European market
is known as Subaru Impreza. It was announced a few
variants of the new WRX 2016, in addition to the basic that the
2016 Subaru WRX STI and WRX Wagon. All models will be powered
by the well known Subaru Boxer engines.

When it comes to exterior, new Subaru WRX hatchback has
kept its traditional look, but also received some modern
refreshments. The new design puts an accent on its sporting
performance and improving aerodynamics. The front fascia
adorned with sharp headlights makes it look a bit aggressive. A
small spoiler and exhaust pipe at the rear make the vehicle
look sporty.

Some other changes are related to the bumpers, lights and air
intakes. The headlights are powered by the latest LED
technology.

2016 Subaru WRX Interior

The interior design of the WRX Subaru is plain and
minimalistic. The designers used a combination of plastic and
fine fabric, thus setting standards for the future car design.

New center stack incorporates Starlink touchscreen infotainment
and a Rear Vision Camera as standard. Limited models are
equipped with a 7” screen with additional capability.

Subaru made WRX a little bit safer by introducing the EyeSight
system with adaptive cruise control, pre-collision braking,
lane departure warning and lane keeping assist as an option on
the Limited version with the CVT. It’s installed with stuff
such as the navigation system, upgraded radio, keyless start
and steering-responsive fog lamps for additional $4,095. The
very same trim with the 6-speed manual transmission is equipped
with a similar package, with some of the safety tech features
replaced with the blind spot detection and rear cross traffic
alert for $3,100.

2016 WRX Engine and specs

The Subaru WRX 2016 uses a new 2.0-liter, 4-cylinder boxer
engine which produces 268 horsepower at 5,600 rpm and 258
pound-feet of torque between 2,000 and 5,200 rpm. This engine
is mated to a 6-speed manual transmission as standard, but
Subaru also offers a Sport Lineatronic CVT as an alternative.
Models equipped with the CVT also get Subaru Intelligent Drive
(SI-DRIVE). It allows the driver to tailor the vehicle’s
driving characteristics through three available modes –
Intelligent, Sport and Sport Sharp. The driver can choose
whether the CVT behaves like a 6-speed or 8-speed transmission.
Both transmissions send power to all four wheels via
Symmetrical All-Wheel-Drive System.

The vehicle accelerates 0-60 mph in 5.4 seconds with manual
transmission and in 5.7 seconds with automatic transmission
with top speed of 155 mph. There are no significant performance
changes.

Price and release date

2016 Subaru WRX is available for purchase. Pricing starts at
$27,390 for 2016 Subaru WRX and goes up to $35,490 for the 2016
Subaru STI model. Both these prices include a $795 destination
charge.
