2016 Skoda Fabia

The Skoda Fabia is a very important car to the Czech’s
Volkswagen’s wholly owned subsidiary. It is the second-best
selling Skoda model in the UK after the Octavia. The new model
will be based on the MQB platform which features on most of VW
vehicles.

The new 2016 Skoda Fabia model will be smaller than the
outgoing model since the predecessor long narrow shape was not
well received in the market. The new model looks sleeker and
more attractive than the outgoing one. The model still remains
the only light car in the market that is offered both as a
hatchback and as a wagon.

Engine Specs and Performance

The 2016 Skoda Fabia features the same engine as the outgoing
model but the new one has been tuned to deliver two levels of
output. All Fabia engines are duly Euro 2-compliant and all
come with a top-start capability and brake energy recuperation.

The entry level models feature a turbocharged 1.2 L, 4-cylinder
engine rated at 66kW which, the reason for its 66TSI nametag.

engine also produces 160 Nm of torque from as low as 1,400 rpm
up to 3,500 rpm. This power output presents a 3Kw and 28 Nm
improvement from its predecessor’s 1.4 L MPI engine.

The engine is also more fuel efficient at 88 mpg compared to
the previous engine’s 83 mpg. The engine is paired to a 5-speed
manual gearbox. The same engine is tuned to produce 81kW at
between 4,600 rpm and 5,600 rpm and 175 Nm of torque at between
1,400 rpm and 4,000 rpm.
